Dental Implants

Take a Bite Out of Life

At Pleasant Valley Dental, we want you to live your best life with a healthy, functional, and beautiful smile! This can be easier said than done. If you’re suffering from missing teeth or loose dentures, it can be hard to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

Our Vernon dentists do not require a referral for dental implants and can typically take care of the whole process right here in-house!

Why replace missing teeth?

Traditional tooth replacements like bridges and dentures only replace the crown (the visible part of a tooth), leaving the missing tooth root…well, missing. The tooth root is an essential component of a healthy jawbone and a functional smile. Left absent, it can cause the underlying bone to deteriorate or atrophy. That’s why you see that sunken-in facial appearance in some folks dealing with missing teeth.

A shrinking jawbone can also cause problems with your alignment and bite, leading to TMJ and headaches. Dental implants can be a long-lasting solution to prevent all of this, which is why they’ve become a popular choice for missing tooth replacement.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are small posts or screws surgically inserted into the gums where teeth have gone missing. Implants are typically made from strong, durable titanium.

Over the next few months after insertion, the implant post actually becomes fused with the jawbone, regenerating new bone and tissue growth around the implant and restoring a healthy base for a new artificial tooth or teeth.

Once healed, the implant acts as a sturdy anchor for a new crown, bridge, or a full set of teeth attached to multiple implants. There are many options available to suit your individual needs.

Teeth-In-A-Day

If you’re missing all your teeth or living with ill-fitting dentures, we would love to help get you smiling again with Teeth-In-a-Day. This implant system uses the minimum number of implants (four) to support the maximum number of teeth (a full arch).

While the process takes longer than a day from start to finish, the aim is to minimize the time you have to live with gaps from missing teeth. The Teeth-In-a-Day system allows patients to leave our office on the day implants are placed, with a set of firmly secured temporary dentures in place.

Once your permanent dentures are ready, your dentist will replace your temporary teeth with a set of custom-made dentures that can be permanently secured to your dental implants.

All-On-4 Implant Denture Technique

When a full arch of teeth or both arches of teeth cannot be saved, dentures can be a cost-effective tooth replacement option.

That said, many patients struggle to adjust to wearing traditional dentures. That's where All-On-4 comes in. Using the All-On-4 implant technique, a full set of dentures can be permanently secured to dental implants.

All-On-4 implants provide a tooth replacement option that functions more naturally than traditional dentures, with no slipping or need for denture adhesive.
